From Lisa McDonald:

Sunday the girls performed at the parish church of Calella and did a beautiful job. We stayed after the service to perform a couple more songs and the congregation loved it! An impromptu performance was then held outside the church in the marketplace area of Calella. In the afternoon they attended the opening ceremony of the festival. The girls will perform a short program at around 9:15 tonight.

We're off to tour Barcelona tomorrow. Will update as soon as I can. Everyone is having fun and we are all safe.

From LuAnn Holden:

We have had a wonderful trip so far. Computer access is limited in the hotel and public usb download for camera is not possible so far that we have found in the smaller resort town of Calella. One computer in the lobby. So messages will not be as frequent as I had hoped. Phone service is very expensive $2.00 per minute above the charges for a phone card. Public pay phones are very limited and not easily accessible so the girls will not be calling frequently.

The girls participated in the Sunday morning mass at Esglesia Parroquial De Santa Maria I Sant Nicolau de Calella. We were positioned in the side for the music during the service but then at the conclusion we moved to the front steps to perform a couple more pieces. They sounded great and the congregation was very receptive to their singing.

They had some free time with their chaperones in the afternoon after lunch. Most divided their time between shopping in the nearby square or going to the beach. We then went to the opening events of the festival.

Each group participating performed for ten minutes. There was much folk music and folk dancing with colorful native costumes. It began at 4 p.m. and we were scheduled to sing at 9 p.m. The girls were SO WELL RECEIVED! They enjoyed the performance and were all smiles! I can't omit that some of the girls have enjoyed checking out teenage boys who are participating in the festival!

We are on our way to Barcelona today [Monday]. We sing again tomorrow!
